Medium Plus Brisk

Only 5 intrepid types turned out at Hornbeam today. It might have had something to do with the weather. Or Christmas. Or a global pandemic. Or maybe it was the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter – who knows? 5 set off, but Chris only went as far as Low bridge before he stopped to wait for any equally mad EGs so Colette, Zoë, Tall Tim and Vince splashed our way around, mostly talking about how cold it was as a way of keeping warm. There were an exceptional number of cars and way more shocking driving than usual for some reason, but after a few near misses we made it to Boroughbridge for coffee and bacon sandwiches at the excellent Chez Nous Café, which had covered, comfy seats and even blankets to ward off the cold. Chris and Dan made it too. Definitely going back there! The down side was it was even colder setting off again, but there was not much in the way of other options so we mustered as much enthusiasm as possible in advance of the now traditional Knaresborough Hill challenge, and before we knew it the task of thawing out hands and feet had started. Merry Christmas all!
