Ride Reports

Sunday 27th March

Medium Steady

A delightful 60km cruise out to the Dunsforths via Bishops Monkton and (a coffee in) Boroughbridge. Daffodils in abundance in the bright Spring sunshine. Worth putting the clocks forward for!

Medium Plus Steady

What a great day for a brilliant bike ride. 15 of us set off on the day the clocks changed keen to head for the hills. We split loosely into 2 groups. A little cold to start but it soon warmed up.

This was route 122 – Occaney, Bishop Monkton (2 photos were taken there), Ripon, Galphay, High Grantley, Dallowgill Moor and Brimham Rocks. As usual I led from the front on the downhill bits and from the back on the uphill bits. Many thanks to James for back marking.

Lunch was at Tates and there were a lot of laughs about ironing and how long underpants should be allowed to be worn after they have holes in – very topical. Who mentioned Last of the Summer Wine?

The countryside is looking great and everything is coming back to life. We noticed carpets of celandines, blankets of anemones, lambs, curlews, grouse, chiff chaff and more. Aren’t we lucky to live here?

Great company and thanks to everyone who made it a glorious day out. 45 miles and 2250 feet. Steve W
