Several members expressed a desire for a target or challenge for the year in the membership consultation. The club has done some long rides in the past, but these are not suitable for all, so this year we plan to try a new concept to provide a suitable challenge for all those that want one.
Challenge Rides Day – 3 July 2022
The Club Challenge Ride Day will be on 3 July 2022 and there will be no other club rides on that day. It is for Club members only, and it is intended to provide a focus and a personal challenge for riders of all abilities to tackle a distance beyond their normal comfort zone. There will be three routes, all to the east and north of Harrogate, roughly 40, 60 and 100 miles. They will all start and finish in Harrogate, and the club will be provide feed stations and back-up vehicles.
We hope to accommodate over 100 riders in total, but it may be necessary to put a limit on numbers. We will also need lots of volunteer helpers, so we really hope you will either ride or help.
There will be an entry fee (probably £10 per rider), of which £5 will be donated to one of the cycling related charities supported by the club. All further costs will be met by the club.
Further details of the event will appear here in early March, at which time registration will open for riders. At that time, we will also be looking for volunteers to assist and it would be much appreciated if members who do not intend to ride and/or partners would offer to assist.
In the meantime – Save the date – Sunday 3 July 2022.
