Wanderers Ride

Despite the poor weather at the start and the worsening forecast for the day seven souls turned up for todays ride. James, Tim1, Derek, Howard, Steve, Mike W and myself. Despite the weather we made good progress to Knaresborough, Farnham, Bishop Monkton and Littlethorpe. It was wet and there were a fair few puddles. The weather got worse as we passed Ripon racecourse and on to Skelton. By the time we got to Boroughbridge the temperature had dropped a little and gloves were wet through as the rain continued. Hideaway was our refreshment point. We apologised for the puddles but we were made most welcome. Service was good and the banter up to WE high standards. By the time we came out the rain had ceased but we were now riding into the breeze. Nowhere as bad a forecast. Still lots of surface water. So to Minskip , Staveley and back to Farnham. James left us here for home as the rest of us headed for Lingerfield. Derek left us for home and the rest headed for Knaresborough. Howard departed at High Bridge to tackle Beryl Burton Way and the last four dropped of as we went down Forest Lane. It was a good ride in good company and the weather while not good wasn’t as bad as the forecast. Thank you all. Home to home 36 miles for me. Colin B
