Not so many takers for the medium ride today, just Al, Dave and myself. Sue, the sole Short Rider, came along for the first section down to Little Ribston. Although the weather was a bit cool for the time of year, we warmed up with a steady pace down to the Marston Moor monument. The cafe at Askham Grange was open, but we decided to defer our stop a while.. Cutting over to Healaugh directly, we were soon at Thorpe Arch where the car boot sale was just winding down. The surface quality of the cycle path up to Wetherby limited our speed a little, but the Harland Way was fine up to Spofforth. We split up at the Showground with 41 happy miles on the clock. Brian N.
Medium Plus Brisk Ride
Ten joined for the Medium Plus Brisk route 97 (although Navah was to leave us just past Fountains). Up to Masham where there are quite a few undulations enroute to tackle and then tea in the packed square at the Borders House Café. Onwards onto the main ascent of the day that consists of two chief elements. It never did really warm up and we were glad of it on the climb. And then down to Lofthouse trying to balance the need to keep an eye on the road whilst taking in the views of Upper Nidderdale. Pateley followed and then a jive along to Hampsthwaite and home. Thanks to Chris, Martin, Zoë, Katharine, Mark, 2nd Tim, 3rd Tim & Andy for the company. 54 miles & 4,150 ft of climb. Tall Tim
