Sunday 12th March
Medium Ride
A sprinkling of members turned out today at the Showground and Yvonne, Debbie, Steve (x2), Paul and myself enjoyed the ever improving weather on a jaunt through Birstwith, Darley and Thornthwaite up to The Forest School where the draw of football enticed Paul to leave us and the rest of us went somewhat tentatively along the gated road following the car tracks through the snow and across the A59 for a good stop at Fewston Farm Shop. The sun put in an appearance as we returned down Penny Pot Lane and split up for our individual routes home. Accordingly to Yvonne’s little magic machine the distance was about 26 miles (but a lot more for Steve W who had ridden in from Whixley) and we put in a little over 2,000 feet of climbing. Thanks to everyone for coming. James G.

Medium Plus Brisk
Official rides were cancelled due to the weather forecast being so bad but 6 riders made their way through the remaining snow to meet at the Showground. Off to Beningbrough Hall & we were over the Aldwark Bridge before you could say “are we nearly there yet?” Mark Townend left us there whilst we partook of tea/coffee & cake. The ride home via Cattal was into a nagging West wind that took the edge of the speed & tired the legs (with the exception of Zoë that is). By the time we returned home the temperature was in double figures & 99% of the white stuff had disappeared. Some interesting information about how to size a bra & what T1 does in Hookstone Woods helped to pass the 43 miles. Tall Tim
