Route description: An adaptation of Route 1036 R with all the hilly stuff will be on the outward leg to Northallerton (21 miles), with a couple of hills on which the gradient may briefly nudge over 10%, but not too tough. The return to Thirsk is pleasantly flat with a shortcut option if the weather is closing in. Note that route requires crossing the A19 (at about 13 miles) which is a dual-carriageway and obviously requires care to be taken.
