Ride Reports

Medium Ride

It was a coolish and grey morning as the seven of us Mike ,Fiona ,Mark, Navah, Andy, Paul and myself departed Hornbeam for Burn Bridge. Usual check to ensure we were all together after crossing into Leadhall Lane. Time the council go that bottom end re-surfaced. On to the A61 which was pretty quiet as we crossed. A quick regroup before the climb up to Kirby Overblow which separated us a little. Regroup and onto Sicklinghall and Wetherby. Picked up the Harland way and on to Thorp Arch for coffee. Disaster – no fresh coffee! Had to settle for instant. What is the world coming to.! Excellent syrup sponge though. Navah , Fiona and Andy wanted to up the pace a little so they departed never to be seen again. The rest of us carried on to Walton , Cattal and Hungsingore. At Little Ribston I departed for Knaresborough as the rest headed for Spofforth, Follifoot and home. Weather had turned warm. Great ride and company. Thanks all.34 miles for me. Colin B

Medium Plus Brisk Ride

Not many riders for the Medium Plus Brisk this morning – perhaps it was the weather forecast or are people on their holibobs already? Still we formed a pentad and set off on Route 263. Just outside Ripon and Katharine & Zoë turned back as they had been riding on Saturday. Andy, Tall Tim & Vince formed a triad and pedalled on north. The rain never really arrived but then neither did the sun. Got to Sessay to find Spilman’s Farm Shop awash with parents & children strawberry picking. Quick cuppa and back in the saddle – when you have tired legs, is there a better place to be than sitting on behind Vince & Andy as they slice through the miles at over 20 m.p.h? Up Knaresborough Hill to complete 54 miles. Tall Tim
