Thornborough Henges (50 miles)
Knaresborough, Lingerfield, Farnham, Bishop Monkton, Littlethorpe, Ripon, Hutton Conyers, Wath, Thornborough (henges!), West Tanfield (pub, shop, emergency coffee), Mickley, Grewelthorpe (café), Laverton, Kirkby Malzeard (café), Low Grantley, Aldfield, Drovers, Ripley (café), Greenway, Showground
A ride that has everything – a 14th century cathedral, one of the most important prehistoric sites in Britain – Thornborough henges – some relatively unexplored lanes and Yorkshire’s ‘best riverside beer garden’. Everything that is apart from a reliable café. The best bet is the community café in Grewelthorpe (open MWFSS) or the Ivy Bank camp site in Kirkby Malzeard (seasonal and slightly off route). Otherwise, coffee and soft drinks are available at the shop in West Tanfield, and beer and lunch at The Bull.
