Park Rash and Coverdale (85 miles)
Challenging but includes a superb descent through Coverdale.
Leadhall Lane, Rossett Drive, Bike path to Green Lane, Whinney Lane, Howgill Lane to Otley Road. Beckwithshaw (not Moor Park) Stainburn Woods. Little Almscliffe, first right to lane to join road to Norwood. Sun Inn. Cross A59. to Menwith Hill. L to T junction and R along Duck Street for the long steady climb up to Greenhow. L past Stump Cross, TAKE CARE down hills, especially to Devils Bridge which is on a bend and potentially very dangerous, to Hebden and Grassington. Several good cafés including Cobblestones Café. Minor road to Conistone, Kettlewell, turn R and almost immediately L up Cam Gill Road which is start of Park Rash, series of 3 severe hills (30% in middle section). From top descend (mostly) through several hamlets including Horsehouse and Agglethorpe to Coverham. (Optional L to include Middleham.) East Witton. L on A6108 for short distance, R on Barf Bank over R. Ure, 1st R, 1st L, 2nd R on Back Lane to Thornton Steward. Continue to T junction and L to Thornton Watlass, R towards Snape, cross B6268, at T junction R towards Well, but then L into Snape. At end of village take R, then L to Carthorpe and R to Kirklington. Sutton Howgrave, Wath, R to Hutton Conyers. At T junction with A61 use footpath and keep to R, leaving A61 to enter Ripon. Usual route back to Harrogate via Littlethorpe, Bishop Monkton, Farnham, Knaresborough.
