Route 120

Hampsthwaite, Pateley, Brimham (36 miles)

Usual route through Harrogate town centre to A59/Bilton Lane junction, on Bilton Lane first L to Crab Lane, L to Knox Lane over Knox Bridge, at T junction turn R with care across A61, next L continue to T junction and turn L and first R to Hampsthwaite, L at T jnc and at top of hill take R fork to Tang and Kettlesing. R up Sleights Lane, about 300 yards L (Staupes Road), R up to T jnc and L to Menwith Hill. R down B6461 and L along Low Lane. Follow through Thornthwaite, Padside (up steep hill) to Heyshaw Moor and eventually road turns R down Yorke’s Folly. Very steep descent (Care!) to Bewerley, L and into Pateley Bridge. Cafés.   Follow Way of the Roses signs – up main street and on B road to Wilsill, L towards Smelthouses and climb up to Brimham Rocks. At X roads continue straight for a few hundred yards, the R down to Hartwith. L on B6165, then R over toll bridge. L to Birstwith, straight on and up hill to Clapham Green, down to Hampsthwaite (café). Usual route back to Harrogate.
