Yorkshire Wolds Wednesday 19th August 2026

Climbing:	2000ft / 640m
Route Description:	After a few hilly routes in 2026 this is a more gentle tour taking in the unique chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds. However, in common with recent outings we start with the climb of the day, in this case the picturesque ascent of Milliington Dale. This is followed by a long gentle descent almost all the way to lunch and an undulating afternoon. The route passes two churches of note; firstly St Margaret’s Church Millington, known for the Emmaus stained glass window of 2007, and St Mary’s South Dalton, which has a famously tall spire and contains one of only two cadaver tombs to be found in Yorkshire outside York Minster (for more information look it up, or better still, ask Mike the Vet).
Travel Time:	1 hour 15 minutes (about 45 miles) from Harrogate
Car Parking:	The Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre at Kilnwick Percy Hall (What3Words: ///gravel.tripling.occupations). Long stay parking has become a bit problematic in Pocklington, but the KMC are happy to let us use their car park. As a registered charity I suggest we make a small donation.
Facilities at Start:	Toilets should be open at the car park at the start. The World Peace Cafe (on site) is not open when we leave in the morning but is open until 4pm so should be available at the end of the ride. For further facilities in the morning there are short-term parking, public toilets and cafes in the centre of Pocklington.

Lunch Stop:	Farm Shop at Cranswick, Hutton Cranswick (at 17miles)
Depart:	Assemble in the car park for a 9:30am start.
