St Patrick’s Day set the scene for this year’s Wheel Easy quiz at the St Robert’s club. There were shamrocks hanging from the ceiling, Irish flags on the tables and a few leprechauns for good luck. Guinness was on offer at the bar and proving very popular to judge by the queue. The turn out was excellent with 13 teams pitting their wits for the kudos of being Wheel Easy’s top quizzers.

Quizmaster Dave Wood provided his usual high standard entertainment, including a few light-hearted corny jokes, and managed to keep up an Irish theme with a cycling twist throughout the evening. There were eight rounds in total and two spot prizes requiring a numerical answer. Some of the team names were new and others not, but most people seemed relieved that winners for the last three years “Recycled Bottom Brackets” were taking a break. With a couple of spontaneous singsongs of Molly Malone and Wild Rover, the fun was maintained until the end, when the “Out of Towners” were proclaimed the winners with “Derailleurs” second and “Nearest the Bar” third.
