Wednesday 6th April
Wanderers’ Ride
Seven riders set off from the Showground. No ‘gentle’ ride so Paul came with the rest of us. We had Tim, Tim 4, Nicci, Colette, Sarah and myself. Proceeded onto Low Bridge, collected Corinne, so now a group of eight. We went onwards to Beningbrough but at Farnham, Nicci had battery malfunction, so she decided to go home Ripley way. Paul left with her.
Down to a group of six, sailing along with the wind behind us, just before Branton Green, Colette’s rear mudguard broke in half. With her Swiss Army knife and a couple of plastic ties, fastened it back together. On our way to Beningbrough Farm Cafe, coffee and cakes, started raining and a decision was made to go back same way, into headwind, which wasn’t too bad. At Marton-cum-Grafton it stopped raining and the sun came out. At Knaresborough people went their own ways home. Thanks to everyone for their company. Enjoyable ride despite the weather. Mike W
Wednesday Ride
Blowy and sunny when we set out, torrential rain in between and swirling gusts especially on the open road. Thank you Paul for the photo. Yvonne fearful for her life left us at Norwood, the rest of us revised the route carrying on down past the reservoir, Farnley, Leathley stopping at the Farm Shop at Pool for coffee. And to retrieve my Beanie left a few weeks earlier. Lovely staff could not locate it or their manager who was in Spain and they reckoned he knew where it was! Lovely service and cafe stop so we will go back again for a Beanie ride. As we saddled up torrential rain moved in across from Ilkley so we waited a while before hotfooting it back home. Steve and Kate cycled back through Castley all part of their training for LeJog in July. Great to see you back with Wheel Easy. Well done Maris after a long absence grinding up those hills. Great company as always and home in the sunshine. 28 miles. Gia M
