Post-Christmas Ride

Ten WE members escaped the festive frivolities to do a medium plus fast ride to Ripon via Hampsthwaite, Brimham Rocks and Kirby Malzeard, returning through Littlethorpe, Markington and the Greenway. The weather was much better than forecast with winter sunshine and no wind. We picked up a lone cyclist, Stuart, a potential new member who joined us when we crossed the Ripon Road before Killinghall and stayed with us for the duration of the ride. At Oliver’s pantry in Ripon, three riders pressed on while the remaining eight took on some light refreshments before setting off again.
At Bilton lane crossing, Grant suffered a puncture and needed to change his rear inner tube. Whilst we were stood around offering helpful advice, Geraldine and Joe joined us and we all admired Geraldine’s remarkably clean, new bike.
We set off for home feeling very virtuous after completing 41miles, fairly hilly and fairly fast on a Thursday!! Julie E.
