Nidderdale Greenway – Balsam Bashing!

FromTerry Smith:

Dear Volunteers
Want to get away from the clamour and traffic of the Great Yorkshire?  Then it’s time to go Balsam Bashing again on Nidderdale Greenway next Tuesday 9th July ’19  at 10.00 -12.00.  Steve Wright and Dennis made a pre-emptive strike last Monday down by the river at the Killinghall Bridge end.  But there is still plenty left for us to go at.  There is a good crop of the stuff about 500m up from the Ripley end and the same distance down the hill from junction where the Ripon line went north to cross the Ripley Knaresborough road.  I cycled past it on Weds and some of it is just in flower, so there is no time to lose!
I plan to park at the Killinghall bridge end at about 09.50 and walk up with wheelbarrow to the site and, hopefully, to meet everyone coming down the path on their bikes from the Bilton end.  Not many tools are needed, really – just a good pair of gloves.  I’ll bring the necessary scoops, brushes  and bags and look forward to meeting you there.
Afterwards? At Ripley tearoom usually, but other suggestions are welcome.
