Short Ride

No takers for the short ride today and, in fact not many for any of the other rides. Maybe people had read the weather forecast: heavy rain showers and a 20mph westerly wind. The scheduled ride went to Kirkby Overblow and Wetherby via the Wood Hall Hotel, but as there was nobody else for the short ride, Geraldine and I went for a spin around Kettlesing, guessing that some of the other rides might end up at Sophie’s for coffee, which is what in fact happened when Paul T, Gia and Debbie turned up. In the end, it didn’t really rain significantly, and the wind was manageable CPS.

Medium Ride

On a grey, blustery morning more reminiscent of autumn, 7 riders joined me to  cycle a low level ride in the Vale of York. We made good time through Little Ribston, Cattal and Whitley to Great Ouseburn. Here , Yvonne and Martin were lured to the coffee cart for their coffee and brownies. The remainder of the group where keen to continue to Knaresborough for a cafe stop. It was from then on that we battled with the full force of the wind. So it was a relief to be weaving our way along Abbey Road to the Black Mulberry cafe. We were all impressed with the efficient friendly service and good food. James departed for home while the rest of us made our way up Knaresborough hill before going our separate ways. In the end a beautiful, sunny ride on quiet roads in cheerful company. Back home in time for the tennis too! Many thanks to James for co-leading. 34 miles. Alison N.
