Club Challenge Rides 2023

Sunday 2nd July
It’s that time of year again! Registration is now open to club members, family and friends for the 40 mile, 60 mile and 100 mile charity challenge rides planned for Sunday 2 July 2023.
Each route has been designed to provide an enjoyable ride and offer a suitable challenge whatever your ability. There will not be any other club rides on the day.
If you know which ride you want to join and don’t want to read all the information below before you register and pay, simply click below.

Raising funds in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Although the event is primarily intended for Wheel Easy members, we would also welcome any family and friends who are looking for a great day’s cycling in support of our chosen charity the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Founded on October 25th 2000 the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire.
Organisation and Arrangements
All rides will start and finish at Harrogate Hockey Club, where parking will be available if required. Ride groups of 6 will be started off at 10 minute intervals with precise times allocated once the number of entries for each ride are known. We anticipate riders finishing between 15:00 and 16:30, allowing for post-event socialising at the Hockey Club where refreshments and food will be available. Please note: while entries will be open until the day of the event, we cannot alter preferred groups and start times to suit entries received after 19 June.
Routes will not be signposted and the Club will not be providing official ride leaders, so you will need to make sure you have some way of navigating (e.g. by using a Garmin, Wahoo or even printing off a paper map!). If you are riding in a group you are, of course, more than welcome to make your own leadership and navigational arrangements.
We will issue final details to riders, including groups, start times, and a guide to feed station locations on or around Tuesday 27 June.

Brief details, with provisional start times, feed stations (marked #) and downloadable routes for the three rides are below.

Fees and Fundraising
Entry fees, including a £5 charity donation, are as below. We welcome the involvement of friends or family members joining the rides, but to comply with club rules these individuals will need to pay an additional £5 to cover the club cost element because club funds can only be used for the benefit of club members.
The Wheel Easy committee have standardised the fees this year so the fee for members is £14 and for non-members it’s £19 regardless of the ride length.
The entry fee is to meet the cost of refreshments at feed stations and at the finish, and includes a £5 donation to our nominated charity. The Club
will also be meeting the costs of hiring the Hockey Club and venues used for feed stations, the sweeper/assistance cars and the organisation of routes and groups.
Registration
Please complete the registration form and make the appropriate card payment using the button below, ideally no later than 19 June.
