This witty, charming and critically acclaimed play celebrates the life of unsung sporting legend Beryl Burton – the greatest woman on two wheels. Written by actress, proud Northerner and cyclist, Maxine Peake describes her debut ‘Beryl’ as a “gentle” play. Her aim was simple: “What I wanted, all I wanted really, was a celebration of this amazing woman and her amazing achievements”

This exciting production runs from Thursday 3rd – Saturday 12th November, matinee on Saturday 5th November.
There will be a 30 minute Q and A with Beryl Burton’s daughter, Denise Burton-Cole, following the 2.30pm performance on Saturday 5th November. Denise was also an accomplished cyclist during the 1970s, winning national titles and a world championship bronze medal representing Great Britain.
