Sunday 4th March

Wheel Easy Walk

After a few bus transport problems eleven of us gathered in the Market Place at Knaresborough and gave Mother Shipton a cuddle before setting forth on a walk in snowy Knaresborough.  We chose our route down to Waterside with care as the snow was gradually melting and becoming a might slippery and soon we were on the level ground of the road by the river.  Straight on from Waterside we followed Abbey Road to the retail park and the Barker and Stonehouse cafe.  Good coffee and cakes, shame it is rather too close for bike rides as we would visit more often.
Then we headed back along Abbey Road for a short distance and turned up along some very scenic paths that follow the top edge of the Nidd Valley, eventually bringing us out near King James School.  I was surprised how few people knew these lovely paths, as unless like James and I, who have lived in Knaresborough, it seems they are a rather hidden secret.  Then back to the Castle where we all went our separate ways homeward.  Alison, Jill, Peter and I continued walking up the Beryl Burton Way to reach Starbeck and Harrogate.
