Wheel Easy Ride Report 606

Short Ride

Three ladies, Dennis and Paul B needed to escape the rigours of Christmas and New Year....despite the forecast threatening doom in the form of Dillon an Irish Storm. We had a quick ride with the wind whisking us along passing Knaresborough where we met David Rowson, Scotton, Brearton and Ripley where Sue and Dennis sped back home and four of us has a very expensive tea or coffee. We returned home almost ready for the rigours of New Ýear's eve after a remarkably pleasant very much needed  mornings exercise. Delighted we all ignore the weather forecasts. Caroline G

Medium-plus Ride

It was dry, a bit sunny, but best of all much less wind than forecast.  Storm Dylan had obviously decided to take a rest.  Fifteen of us set out along the Greenway to Ripley and we were soon climbing the bank and heading on past the Chequers.  Arriving at the entrance to Fountains Visitor Centre we came across John mending a puncture that, hopefully, was soon sorted.  At this point most people headed for the Visitor Centre cafe while yours truly continued to the cafe by the Lake to gain early warning of all the runners heading through Studley Park on the Ripon Jolly Holly Jog.  If ever there was a misnamed event this is it - a tough 10k Run with lots of hills and lots and lots of mud! It was great to see Yvonne and all my parkrun friends going well and best of all - smiling!  By then I was on my own so I sauntered back along the sunny lanes to Boroughbridge then Marton and homewards. 38 great miles.  Martin W
