Wheel Easy Ride Report 605

Christmas Eve Jaunt

The big fella with the white beard and red coat wasn’t at Hornbeam by 9.40 so we had to go without him today and for some inexplicable reason almost everyone wanted (or needed) to be back by lunchtime at the latest - something must have been going on!  Accordingly a swift ride to Boroughbridge and back was favoured, indeed we made Boroughbridge with barely a break in the pedalling and the major decision of the day then was to find a cafe that was open and could take a largish group of about twelve. The initial decision was taken by the front runners  who headed straight off to Listers Farm shop which turned out to be shut as well and so it was back into the town where we split between Bowe & Co and the Courtyard cafe.

We then managed to reassemble for a quick photo shoot courtesy of Gia before splitting up for the return in different groups and by various routes. Despite dry weather forecast there was some typically wetting drizzle and some us got a good muddy soaking from a combination of a side wind and a heavy wagon travelling fast in the other direction. However a good mornings run out and some fresh was enjoyed by all with the usual social interaction for which Wheel Easy is famous. Congrats to Kevin on the arrival his latest granddaughter, Alice and a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year to all our readers. James G
