Away Day Ride Wed 20th December
On the morning of the Spa Gardens Xmas Lunch there will be a short Awayday Ride starting at Ripon Spa Gardens at 9.30am with the aim of being back well in time for the Xmas Lunch.
This is so that by taking your car to Ripon and riding from there you do not have to ride home after the lunch in the cold and dark but will have got some exercise and can go home in your car after a splendid feast.
Free parking is available in the streets near the Spa Park with Studley Road ( opposite the Rugby and Cricket Ground) perhaps the best place to park.
The ride will start by the gates of Spa Park at 9.30am. it is 14 miles and goes to Bishop Monkton/Markington /Fountains Abbey and then back into the City. A coffee stop will be optional dependent upon time etc.The route map is attached for your information.
Some people will remember we offered this ride last year and some hardy souls set off but we had to foreshorten it due to mist. Lets hope its a better day this year!
The rides are, of course, weather dependent and so we will post a message on the website the night before (by 8pm) if the ride is cancelled.
If you have any problems on the morning (delays etc) then contact Colin on his mobile (07472239976)Anyone who would like a lift or can offer a lift to other riders should contact Kevin Douglas(e-mail:ksdouglas@tiscali.co.uk) and he will try to arrange things with those who are going. Also contact him if you have any other queries.

The route map is set out below for those who want to look at it/download it:-

WHEEL EASY TOUR TO GERMANY - SUNDAY 24 to SATURDAY 30 JUNE 2018, - (7 days/6 nights).

Following 5 very successful Wheel Easy tours with Mercurio Bike Travel, I am delighted to announce details of our 6th annual tour in June 2018, when we will return to Bavaria again.  The tour will follow the River Danube from Regensburg to Passau.

An outline of the tour is as follows:-

  • We will fly with easyJet from Manchester to Munich at 13.25 on 24 June.  The easyJet price at present is under £40 for the outward flight.  The return flight departs Munich at 14.40 on Saturday 30 June arriving in Manchester at 15.50, and is currently also under £40.   Prices usually increase as the plane fills, so early booking of tickets is recommended.
  • Mercurio will meet us from Munich Airport for our transfer to our hotel in Regensburg, where we will start cycling on Monday.  The Mercurio tour will finish in Passau after breakfast on Saturday 30 June, where Mercurio will transfer us back to Munich Airport for our flight home to Manchester.
  • We cycle at a relaxed pace, set by our ride leader Andre, daily mileage is typically between 25 and 35 miles, as there are other activities planned for each day, such as a guided tour or a visit to a local place of interest.  The total distance is 128 miles.
  • We cycle along dedicated cycle paths or quiet roads, admiring the beautiful scenery through the region.
  • Mercurio provide us with bikes and pannier bags, and transport our luggage from hotel to hotel, so we only need to carry our daily needs, such as camera, sun cream, waterproofs, etc., in the pannier bag.
  • Overnight stays are in very comfortable hotels and guest houses.
  • All trips and meals are included in the Mercurio price - the only extras we pay for are drinks.
  • The cost is £995 per person sharing a double/twin room, with a supplement of £140 per person for a single room occupancy.
  • The transfers to and from Manchester Airport (e.g. car sharing, minibus or train) will be agreed nearer the time.
  • For those not in a rush to return home, there is the opportunity to stay on in Passau for a few extra days to explore the beautiful area and surrounding countryside.  We would then have to make our own arrangements to return to Munich Airport and indeed, Eric and I will be staying on for 2 extra days returning on Monday 2 July.
  • Further details are included in the provisional Tour Portrait attached.
  • Provided we have a minimum of 10 in our group by Christmas, this will be a Wheel Easy only tour.  The maximum number we can take is 15.
  • If you are interested or have any further questions, please contact Diane Waters, either by email at:-  dianeewaters@gmail.com,  or mobile:-  07809 063303, in the near future.
